China
the abbreviated version for
those that bore easily
In this section we will take a quick tour of Beijing and nearby areas and see The Great Wall, Tianamen Square, the Ming Tombs, the Summer Palace, Fragrant Palace and the Forbidden City. It will almost be like you were there, but without the heat, humidity, smog, traffic, or expense. Because you're going to see about six photos, it will take a while to download. But consider the three minutes you might wait as against the 14 HOURS it would take you just to fly to the city. A bargain.

This is Al in Tee-an-na-men Square. Big place, only big place for citizens to hang out. Note the soccer players in background. We didnt join them-ground kind of hard. | ![]() |

Here Tracey & Al rest at the Ming Tombs. Some Emporer (13th) was buried there with his wife and "friend." This is a mandatory tourist stop that needs to add a video arcade or something to be exciting. |

The Great Wall at Balatin or something like that. Only man-made (personmade?) structure visible from space. Hell of a lot of steps. Its 5,000 miles long. We didnt walk the whole thing. Next trip perhaps. Phenomenal, breath-taking stop. | ![]() |

This is at the Summer Palace and may be the single best picture ever taken of Al. We think place built by Empress Dowager Cixi (no kidding, real name). A real Kodak moment. Nice place-lots of steps also. | ![]() |

High atop Fragrant Palace. Perhaps best landscape view in China. Even more steps. Dont walk it, dont ride horse, use chair lift or die. Not your everyday tourist spot. Take the subway back for fun. | ![]() |

The great Forbidden City. Probably better for operas than tourists. Make sure to ask what the big urns are for and start at far end first, away from Tee-an-na-men Square. Best bet, catch a tour on PBS. | ![]() |
